As we plan our barbecues and family gatherings in anticipation of Labor Day, we got to thinking.  How many of us really appreciate the true meaning of the holiday?  Most of us probably don’t think beyond the guest list or the extra day of yard work to reflect on why we have this American holiday in the first place.

According to Wikipedia, “Labor Day in the United States is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. It honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of their country.”

elder_careAt RCare, we started to reflect on how critical all of the workers are in our sector, the long term care industry. If it weren’t for these valuable, compassionate and hardworking people, who would provide hands on care and assistance our aged, disabled and sick population?  We rely on these humble heroes to heal, enable, support, and take care some of the messy daily work that comes along with any type of caregiving (eg. bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, etc.).

RCare is passionate about helping long term care communities by empowering these caregiving staff members. We want to make their work environment better, easier and more efficient. We want communities to be a better place to live, to work, and to visit. We do this by making caregivers feel connected to each other, to residents and to management. We do this by empowering professional caregivers to make better decisions and allow them to track success. We do this because without our incredible customers, long term care would cease to exist as we know it.

On this Labor Day, we would like to thank our long term and other healthcare providers and celebrate all of the workers out there. We want to give an extra special shout out to the hard working caregivers in the trenches, the long term care administration and to all of those unpaid family caregivers that devote endless time and dedication to this noble cause.  You are amazing.

Happy Labor Day from RCare.
